moms gone wild

that title makes me giggle. if watching movies and going to bed at 9:30 constitutes as wild then that is exactly what we were this weekend. and we loved every flippin' second of it!

amy, megan and i spent 4 days in gorgeous scottsdale this past weekend. we drank margaritas, laid by the pool and went out to fun dinners. it was fabulous. no one called me mom, no one asked me to throw their trash away, no one whined that they didn't want to eat the dinner that i didn't have to cook. 

it was glorious.

i'm sure that sounds harsh to some people but it shouldn't. i love my kids, obviously. i have a blog devoted to taking pictures of them and writing about how wonderful they are. i just believe that every mother needs some down time to re-charge their mommy batteries. they need time to clear their head. to read trashy magazines that have absolutely nothing to do with their daily lives. to drink skinny girl margaritas with their girlfriends and not worry about how bad they will feel when their kids wake them up the next morning. to not cook or clean their house or do other people's laundry for a few days. 

this doesn't mean we don't love our children or our husbands or even laundry...it just means we need a break to focus on ourselves. this, in turn, will only make us better wives and mothers. let's face it, it will make us more pleasant to be around overall. 

like the saying says "if mom ain't happy...nobody's happy" 

i am happy. 

i am relaxed, refreshed and recharged. 

i'm even a little tan. 

life is good.
