what do you get when you throw together a long weekend, a holiday and 75 degree days in st. louis in july?

one of the most fun-filled weekends we've had in a long time, that's what!

it all started on thursday.

the big gals had their last day of camp bellerive. they have had so much fun this summer learning how to play tennis, golf and swim.

my fil spent the long weekend relaxing out in beaver creek so we were asked to watch his house for him. we take this job very seriously. especially when it comes to "watching" the pool. we actually invited a few friends over to help us that evening...

(that is just the hauck, sweeney and peterson kids up there. my goodness, we have a lot of kids!)

the diving board was a huge hit that evening. they each must have gone off 30 times!

little miss fussy pants has not quite figured out how great it is to be a hauck! come on annie...your grandpa has a pool. suck it up!

after the sun began to set the kids got out their super awesome glow stick shades and went on the hunt for lightning bugs

again...we have a lot of kids. two aren't even pictured here. we are all crazy!

the fun continued on friday. even though it's in the dead of summer...which usually means brutally hot here in stl...i still enjoy the fourth. if you know me at all then you know how much i dislike being hot. i am a sweat-er by nature so july and i aren't really the best of friends. however, this 4th of july was downright delightful!

(i like to think my gma had a hand in this. she disliked being hot about as much as i do. i like to think God has made her a weather angel)

we spent the 4th up at the country club we belong too. we headed up there after may's nap and hunkered down until after the fireworks.

the girls brought their friend lucy a mermaid tail from florida. she was so excited...this makes her one step closer to becoming the mermaid princess she always knew she'd grow up to be!

after swimming for awhile the girls and i showered up and put on our festive outfits for dinner.

the big girls were having so much fun in the bounce houses and watching the magician that i barely saw them the entire evening until the fireworks. may and her buddy georgia stuck close by, though.

the fireworks were a big hit this year with everyone...except may. as soon as she heard that first "boom!" she jumped in dan's lap and asked to go to the car. lilly, however, stuck around for the entire show this year...and captured some great pics for us!

after a whirlwind 4th and getting home around 10pm...we took advantage of saturday morning and we all slept in a little. annie and i were up around 8 but the big girls slept until almost 9! gotta love late summer nights. after a nice long family walk we decided to go check in on pa's pool again. i mean, it was the least we could do.
