family skate

on wednesday night we held the second annual holiday family skate at the fabulous shaw park. for those of you who may not know my husband very well...he grew up on the ice. spent much of his child, teenage and early adult years at a rink. from the creve coeur comets, to the aaa st. louis blues, to desmet and finally ending his hockey career as the captain of his indiana university team. i wish his daughters could have seen him on the ice...he really was a great player. i loved going up to iu on the weekends and spending friday and saturday night at the games. i was so proud to be a "hockey girlfriend!" now a days dan will occasionally play in a men's league or pick up game with friends but work and the girls keep him too busy to get out there as much as he'd like too. last year he decided to rent out the ice at shaw park for an hour and invite all our family and friends to come out and take a spin. this year was a fabulous turn out. we had a ton of friends and a lot of kids out there on the ice for the first time. it was a blast!
