my thoughts on 4
1:32 PMso here i am...two + weeks into this whole "i have 4 kids" thing. that basically makes me an expert, right?

i thought i'd share the top five things i have noticed about having four children for 2 weeks.
number 5. very excited big sisters do not know the meaning of personal space. especially while you are nursing their baby sister.
number 4. loooong gone are the days of "sleeping while the baby sleeps." as are the days of doing laundry or making dinner or taking a shower or thinking.
number 3. someone always needs something. always. whether it's a snack or a drink or their butt wiped, do not expect to have a moment to yourself. unless of course you lock yourself in your bathroom for 5 mins. which i have never done.
number 2. having a good husband is absolutely key to keeping your sanity. dan and the big girls have become extremely tight these last few weeks. dad's can't really help with newborns who are breastfed...but man are they good at taking the others on awesome dad adventures and giving mom a chance to nurse in peace. having a husband like mine who actually enjoys cleaning the house is just icing on the cake!
number 1. four kids is a never ending amount of fun. granted, it's not fun every second of every day...but at the end of every day so far i have thought to myself "man i sure do love those four little girls."
to be totally honest the transition has not been all that bad in our house. ryan and lilly are completely infatuated with their baby sister. everything she does fascinates them and that fascination makes them eager to help. whether it's diapers or bath time or holding her they are pretty much up for anything when it comes to annie.

they also try to include her in everything...even though she can't really do anything. in the above picture they set this up for their daily viewing of the movie, annie...they're new favorite.
as for may, she has been 100% un-phased by the entire situation. sure she loves annie...even asks to hold her every once in awhile...but for the most part she could really care less.

she just carries on as if nothing has changed. entertains herself only really asking for help with a puzzle or for a snack. for the last two weeks i had help from family when it came to putting her to bed for naptime. she never so much as whimpered about the fact that i couldn't put her to bed. her easy-going attitude has made things run sooo smoothly around here.
i think she also really likes being one of the "big girls" now!
so if you're on the fence about having more kids...go for it!
you can trust me. i have made it two whole weeks!
