january

what can i say about this month...it's so very...blah. i feel sorry for it actually. i mean what month would want to follow december? i sure as heck wouldn't. there's really not much january could do to top december and all the sparkle that comes with it. i think january realizes this...so it doesn't even try. it starts out with major potential. new years day...a day where every person gives themselves a clean slate. whether it's finally taking that trip, losing those extra lbs, save some money...the 1st day of a new year always has such promise. however, come january16th most of those resolutions have been broken and we are right back where we started. only now it's cold and there's really no reason we want that snow to fall anymore. ahhh the doldrums of winter. that is where i find myself these days.

here's what we've been up to, in no particular order.

miss may turned 6 weeks old last thurdsay. we celebrated by going to the doctor and getting shots. (thanks a lot january.) i am happy to report that may is still perfect and according to her doctor "the prettiest baby she's seen in awhile" that is a direct quote from the nice lady at the reception desk. apparently our doc announced this to the staff while we were back in the room getting said shots. (have i mentioned i love our pediatrician? she seriously rules!) may is taking after her sisters in the height/weight department. she weighed in at 8lbs 9oz and is 21in long which falls around the 25th percentile. small, yet proportionate...or as i like to say...petite and perfect.

you would think after 6 weeks the girls would lose a little bit of interest in their baby sister...afterall she's still in the eat/sleep/poop stage. not the case in this house. the fascination has not waned in the least bit...it actually seems to have escalated now that may has started flashing that beautiful smile all over town. the girls want to be around her at all times. they don't seem to be understanding the phrase "give her space" because i must say it 75 times a day and yet they do not give her any space. at all. it couldn't be that they are just not listening to me...could it? no, no...not my kids. (did you get the sarcasm? i was laying it on pretty thick!)

a little sneak peek of that smile i was telling you about. wait until you see the full-on grin. it melts my heart. every time.

let's see...what else have we been up to? oh yes, we invaded our good friends brand new house last week.  it's amazing how calm and relaxing an evening with 5 kids under 4 can be. i'm sure they are really glad they moved back in town! (there's that sarcasm again!) poor johnny needs some boys to join this group asap!

remember that snow i was talking about earlier? well it showed up last week...but only for a few days. it was back to 60 degrees today. (score one for january) the girls were so excited to wake up and see the white stuff on the ground. they could hardly wait to get out there! that lasted all of 12 minutes and they were back in claiming it was too cold.

they decided it would be more fun to sit inside where it's warm and watch the wizard of oz. oh yeah...and dress the part

may and daddy have been doing some serious bonding...

ry has been obsessed with dressing herself...

lilly makes me put her hair in "tiger lilly bands" almost every day. oh yeah...and she no longer responds when you call her lilly. she will quickly remind you her new name is tiger lilly.

well, there you have it. that's about all we've been up to so far this month. boring, i know. wake us up when it's spring...
