kindergarten hangover
8:07 PMwhat a weekend! friday was such a huge day i swear we were all a little hungover saturday from all the excitement!
let's look back at that wonderful first day of school, shall we??
ryan did awesome...beyond awesome! i woke her up early (6:45 is like the middle of the night compared to her usual 8am summer wake-ups) and she basically hopped out of bed and into her uniform. she was so very excited!!
it was a delightful morning...no yelling from me to "get your shoes on" or "get in the car"...just smiles and happiness. the way the first day of school should be!
honestly...how cute is she?
lilly had to try on the new hello kitty backpack that, much to my chagrin, ryan just had to have!
of course daddy had to stay home to see his big girl off...always a treat to have breakfast with dan considering we usually never even see him in the morning.
these two were such good sports with all the pictures
one of the sweetest moments of the morning...
special thanks to dottie and ya ya for coming out so early to give our girl a kindergarten kiss
ryan told me multiple times that she was not worried at all about kindergarten since she had some old friends coming with her...
lilly and i had cookies and milk waiting for ry when she got home. she loved every minute of her first day.
after an hour or two of rest we headed up to bellerive for a movie on the pool deck. it was such a fun evening...however, we didn't get home until almost 10:00.
enter saturday morning.
our kindergarten hangover.
i never want to come off on this blog as if i have a perfect life. that i am this perfect mother who never makes a mistake, never yells and always has her kids looking and acting perfectly. i'm sure sometimes it can look that way...of course i am going to post the pictures of my kids when they are looking cute and put together...but i can tell that is not the case every day. it is quite the contrary most days.
like saturday.
saturday was the kind of day where i wanted my children to forget my name. if i heard the words "mom" or "mama" or "moooommmy" one more time i was going to pull my hair out. at one point i had to laugh at myself because as i was hiding in my bathroom all i could hear was may walking around the house calling "mama! are you? mama! are you?"
god love that sweet little voice.
i was never so happy to see dan walk through the door after being at the office for a few weekend hours. i put may down for a nap and he took the big girls out for a couple hours and all was right in the world again.
never underestimate the kindergarten hangover
