five whole years

9:22 AM

yesterday i took ryan to the doctor for her seven year checkup. as expected she is practically perfect in every way. 46lbs (25th percentile) and 43"(10th percentile). seeing those numbers made me realize just how big she is getting. this of course made me a little sad which in turn made me wallow in self pity about how fast life is going. this kind of attitude always makes me dive into old pictures and remember how little she once was.

i turned to the blog last night to look at some old pics of my big girl...that's when it hit me. i have been blogging consistently for 5 years.

five whole years.

that amazes me considering the day i started this little online journal i really had no idea what a blog even was. megan suggested i start one because, well, why not? we had some fun things going on in our life. we had just broken ground on this house, i was in the throws of raising two kids 16 months apart...and had absolutely no clue what i was doing.

little did i know back then just how much i would love this little space of mine on the web.

little did i know that two more little girls would grace this family.

little did i know that people would actually like to see the pictures i take or read what i have to say.
(i truly appreciate, by the way.)

this little blog really has become so much to me. i love everything about it. i love having a place to document our lives. i love being able to show off all those pictures rather than leaving them on my phone, taking up space. i love that even though we don't see our extended family as much as i would like the blog keeps everyone up to speed on us...whether they like it or not!

it truly is a release for me as well. i am able to put down my thoughts and be as mushy about my kids as i want...or as real as i want one those hard days.

i look forward to fun events in our life because i know i'll have some good ammo to blog about.

if you are on the fence about starting a blog...i highly suggest you take the plunge. do it for yourself, for your kids, for your family. you will soon realize just how rewarding it can be!

in honor of 5 years, why don't you come take a walk down memory lane with me to a few of my favorite posts from that very first year...

this birthday party will go down in history!

hard to believe we really did build this house with two young kids. i'd do it again in a heartbeat!

such a precious preschooler

we really have some great christmas traditions

as you can see, i have evolved in my writing and picture taking skills over the years. that first year was a little rough...but i'm happy to have it documented anyway.

i truly do love this little space of mine. i can't wait for my girls to read this when they are older to see just how much fun we are having and how much we love them.

cheers to many, many more years of blogging fun...
