greentree
1:32 PMfor any of you fellow kirkwoodians out there...you know what greentree is all about. for those of you who live elsewhere in this great state (or country...depending on who actually reads this) i will give you the low down. the greentree festival has been going on for as long as i can remember. it is a two day (used to be a two weekend) festival that invades kirkwood park every september. the festival features a parade, live music and tons of booths featuring arts & crafts and food. growing up in kirkwood i spent many years wandering through the festival with my friends. looking for nothing in particular but always coming home with the same thing...kettle corn. i swear when i think of the greentree festival, my mouth automatically starts watering thinking about the bag of kettle corn i will purchase.
this year was no different. although i am no longer an official resident of k-wood (we live about 5 minutes northwest of my beloved childhood city) i still like to partake in all the glory that is greentree. i feel as if i have slacked off the last couple years. we were either out of town or busy with weddings and my parents had to take my girls...but this year it was all me. the girls & i packed up and headed to secure our spot on the parade route. thankfully we know some major k-wood big wigs who happen to live right along the parade route. perfect spot to collect candy! thanks bommarito's!!!

apparently lilly is voting for todd aiken?? anything for a sticker.
apparently something was loud
ryan was so excited to look for her new friend olivia who was walking in the parade. liv is the daughter of aunt bossy's best friend nikki and babysat for the girls for the first time a couple weekends ago. ryan fell in love with her instantly and was thrilled to look for her during the parade!
(liv is the 5th cheerleader from the front)
someone gave ryan a flag and she continued to wave it for the next hour. so patriotic! (looks like she is also voting for aiken)
of course i had to get a shot of the old alma-mater. i even got a big wave from the athletic director to the far right. she was there when i was a bear. obviously i made an impact with my mad skills on the basketball court. (i hope the sarcasm from that last statement came through your computer)
all in all another great parade.
and yes...i did get my beloved kettle corn. it was gone the next day. (give me a break, i'm pregnant!)
