lately

while i await the arrival of my new usb cable for my camera (yes I had to order a new one...mine is still missing) i thought i would update you on all the going-ons around here lately.
our everyday life...instagram-style
two sundays ago ryan and I went on a date to see aladdin at the muny. a night at the muny is always iffy with stl summer weather. you will almost always sweat your *bleep* off...but we got lucky in that department. we could have done without the thunderstorm that rolled through right as the show was supposed to begin...but it was a fast moving storm and rolled out as quickly as it rolled in and cooled everything down. once the rain stopped it was a delightful evening.

finally...let the show begin!




although the rain delay caused the show to run until about 11:30, ry refused to leave until it was over. didn't take her long to crash in the car.




the next day ryan began her week at "princess power" camp through coca, our local creative arts center here in town. this girl never ceases to amaze me. she attended the camp without knowing a single person and jumped right in. at the end of the week they had their culmination performance. a sweet little story where all the princesses used their special power to overtake the evil witch. ryan was the sun princess who warmed up the earth. she nailed it!




lilly was very excited to go watch ryan's performance...but made herself clear every time we dropped ry off that she did not want to go to camp next year. (she is my stage 5 clinger. loves her mommy...and her big sis)




brendan also took a coca camp the same week. he attended the "sonic superheroes" week. of course we couldn't miss his performance.

last weekend was jam-packed with fun. saturday morning i co-hosted a long awaited baby shower for the corbin twins. i tell ya, baby showers are so fun when the babies are actually there!




straight from the shower i ran home to pick up ry & head over to the sugar shack for her pal londyn's 5th birthday party. if you haven't been to the sugar shack in kirkwood, you need to visit asap. it's an adorable "retro" penny candy shop. so cute! we have already been back this week...works wonders for bribing your kids!

our pal dave was also in town for the weekend to hang out and play golf. we just love it when dave visits!




that evening ali babysat the gals for us while we enjoyed an adult-only night out. she has way too much fun when she babysits. what do you think of may's new do?




this week we have just been hanging around the house being lazy.

like i said...already made a trip back to the sugar shack. had to bribe lil so she would fall asleep without me laying next to her. worked like a charm!
(this should be a blog post all in itself just so i remember what an experience it was to break her of this habit...which i created! let's hope i will learn my lesson when may moves to a big bed!)

dan has been in germany...yes, really...since sunday so we have just been passing the days until he gets home & i have some help again. man, do i respect the heck out of all those single parents out there!
