irish and proud

6:53 AM

i realize i'm posting these out of order...that's what happens when all my pictures are on my phone!

before we packed up & headed to the beach we celebrated our heritage.

although our last name may not scream "irish" dan and i actually have very strong irish roots.

we love this day every year and celebrate it to the fullest.

we celebrate for the may family of county kildare. for a young betty may (aka, my gma) who made the journey from the emerald isle to the states when she was 19. for if she hadn't, i wouldn't be here.

we celebrate for the ryan family who's roots are so strong dan's grandpa bought his own house over there and visits frequently.

we celebrate for the o'rourke family who lost such a wonderful irishmen at such a young age...but thanks to him his love of life lives on in that wonderful husband of mine.

we love our irish roots and the fact that we can celebrate them every year in march is icing on the cake.

the blondies and I started the celebration friday morning with a little parade at my old grade school.

we continued the party Friday evening at the st. ann fish fry. This event has turned into the may/bradley/muckerman reunion. it's such a fun night...one of gma's favorites!

(our little comedian in front)

saturday we partied on downtown at the big parade.

this is the first year since i have known dan that we didn't make the dogtown parade. with our spring break trip and the arrival of baby sweeney (tomorrow!!!) we just couldn't swing it this year.

next year we are all over it! heck we might even be in it...

hope you all feel the luck of the irish shining down on you this year!
