easter blessings
12:13 PM
ahhh easter. such a lovely holiday. the official start to spring.
even though we have had a pretty mild winter, there is nothing better than spring. the colors, the flowers, the outdoors. i embrace it all.
if only we could have a couple months of winter and the rest spring...wait, no, i need a little fall in there too. maybe 1 month of fall, 2 months of winter and 9 months of spring. wait, wait, wait...i guess i would like a little summer for sufficient pool time.
ok, ok...so 1 month of fall, 1 month of winter (preferably in december), 1 month of summer and 9 months of spring.
there. perfect.
now, where do i have to move to find that?!?
back to the holiday itself...we kicked it off with a morning of egg dying. let me tell you a little something about dying eggs with this crazy crew. it's really super duper fun. (catch my sarcasm there? i was laying in on preeeetty thick)
they just all have so many opinions now. they want the exact same number of eggs...and certain colors...and stickers...and glitter...and a million dollars. ok that last one was made up, but it sure felt like something they would have asked for that morning.
but at the end of the day the eggs got decorated and fun...for them...memories were made.
(in all honestly we love these kiddos and we'll continue to uphold this tradition for years and years and years.)

saturday was a picture perfect day here in the lou. (unfortunately, easter sunday's forecast was not looking so hot) we didn't have much on the agenda so i decided...being the crazy person that i am...to dress the girls up in their easter attire and take some pictures a day early.
gave myself a little pat on the back for having successfully brainwashed both my husband and my children to go along with this insane brilliant idea!
for anyone who cares (anyone? anyone?) their dresses are from the women's exchange. may and annie's are hand-me-downs from a few years back, while ry and lil's are new this year.
easter is just not easter without the presence of a bonnet.

"great color choice for the monogram, mom" i swear that's what she said.
ok, really she said "hat! hat, mama!" but if she could speak in complete sentences that's what she would have said.
dan had been promising a big hunt for the girls easter morning all week...so they literally ran downstairs and straight outside! after collecting all 80 of the eggs dan stuffed and hid, they found the 4 big eggs the easter bunny left. inside those eggs they found clues to where he hid their baskets. i have to say the look on their face when they saw an empty fireplace was pretty funny. thank goodness that tricky bunny came through!
after mass and brunch at aunt maureen & uncle steve's we headed to my parents for hunt number two of the day. the weather was not really cooperating but we had a quick window of about 20mins of no rain....so we went for it!

the three littles had their "hunt" in my mom's front parlor.

bunny cake all around!
we were all pooped after such a fun-filled family day.
i hope you all had a wonderful easter sunday!
