school days

we are swimming right along in school mode now...however, about a month ago we were just dipping our toes back into the school pool.
it started with visit day for the big two.
3rd and 2nd grades this year. i truly cannot believe it.
we started in lil's class.
she has ms redmond this year. every year she has gotten the opposite teacher ryan had the year before. i kind of love that because they are such different girls.
ryan is moving on up to "intermediate" this year which means no more lunch or recess with her sister. (this took a little getting used to for lilly the first few days. ryan has always kind of been her security blanket at school, but i'm happy to report she is stepping up big time and loving being the one of the "big kids" in primary)
3rd grade is in the new building and it's at the top of that building, which means stairs. lots and lots of stairs. it also means independence. the teachers really stress to us parents to kind of take a step back this year. they stress that this is the year the kids need to learn that they responsible for their own work. so far, ryan has been doing really well with this.
she has mrs fogarty this year, who was just announced as the kirkwood rotary teacher of the year. way to go, mrs fogarty!!!
3rd grade also means...lockers!
the first day was all smiles!
a couple weeks later it was this gals turn...
she is going to a parent's day out program on tuesdays and thursdays...and despite the pics below she was very excited. i swear.
she has lots of friends at school with her
this crew...i can't even.
one last kiss from big sis for luck and off we went.
annie has loved every second of school and her loves her teacher, miss diane!
then there is this one.
she waited and waited and waited and finally, after labor day, it was her turn!
our little bird is pre-k this year in ms auer's class.
everyone (especially me) is settling into our new normal quite nicely.
