a christmas story

2:00 PM

christmas morning...ahhhh what a day! i love how the excitment builds and builds the entire month of december and culminates on this one glorious day. as a kid i loved waking up early and running down to see what santa had left me . now as an adult and a mommy i have a whole new perspective on this day and the magic it brings. we are still a year or two away from the girls running downstairs to wake us up...and i know i should be happy about this...but i really can't wait for the first christmas that they do! this year i woke up at 7:00 antsy for the rest of the family to wake up and see all that santa left. i waited and waited and waited...and finally at 8:00 i couldn't take it any longer and had to go wake those sleepy heads up! the look on ryan's face as she saw the loot from the new over look upstairs was priceless.

the infamous pillow pets. ryan said this was her favorite gift. go figure!

opening her "big jessie doll" the only thing she asked santa for

dottie, pa, scott and mary came over with even more gifts and had a christmas breakfast with us.

we took a mini road trip out to the country on christmas day (i will have to wait for kathleen's pictures because i was too busy chasing kids to get any) with all the christmas snow it was a gorgeous view from uncle david's farm house. unfortunately it was too cold to venture out to see all the animals but the girls enjoyed watching all the exotic birds.

we changed things up a little this year by extending the season one extra day. we headed over to my parent's house on the 26th for the muckerman side christmas. this worked out so well and will likely become a new tradition. as you probably noticed from the christmas eve post...the sweeney's hit a little rough (no napping) patch after the morning at my parent's house and were unable to make it to the sciales christmas. so we hadn't seen them since christmas eve morning. which seems more like weeks to these kids. we dressed up in our fancy outfits again...lisa was dying to see lilly in her dress. afterall, she was the one who found this little gem in a resale shop...with the name (spelled the way we do) already on it. fabulous find by aunt bossy!!!

the matriarch and patriarch of the family...

dan keeping the troops entertained by spinning them until they puke. why do kids love this?

more presents...
