reminiscing

my best friend just had her 3rd baby last week...another boy!

patrick callahan peterson arrived thursday august 16th and is absolutely perfect in every way. we are so very happy for our friends. three kids is a lot of work but a lot more fun. i cannot wait to sit back and watch as those peterson boys get into all sorts of trouble together! however, i'm sure that sister of theirs will keep them in line! (i am waiting for her to write his blog post before i post any pics of baby p)

speaking of the peterson boys. johnny and patrick are almost exactly the same distant apart as ryan & lilly. seeing johnny, who is still such a baby himself, become a big brother has brought back a lot of memories for me.

i can honestly (however not happily) say that the first couple months of lilly's life are kind of a blur. i hate that. although i don't vividly remember those first couple months i have to assume they were pretty hard. our mind is an amazing thing. all the happy, carefree memories are crystal clear, while some of the harder times are still there...they just seem a little hazy.

that is not to say that welcoming lilly wasn't a wonderful time in our lives. quite the contrary...it was one of the top 4 greatest moments of my life! it was simply much different than when we brought may home. both the girls were pretty self sufficient and could actually help me with may. when we brought lil home ryan was so little she still relied on me for everything. so needless to say things were a little more hectic. it's no wonder those couple months are blurry.

thankfully i took pictures almost as much as i do today. i have been looking back at them a lot over the last few days. if only i had this blog back then to record exactly how i made it through those first couple months. i guess that's why i'm posting these pictures now...
