thankful
3:34 PM
thanksgiving.
a whole day devoted to being thankful. thankful for all that we have and all that we hold dear. of course i believe we should do this every day of the year rather than just one...but it is nice to have a day where everyone joins in.
this year was a little bittersweet of us. you see last thanksgiving was the last holiday we all spent with my g'ma. (she was in the hospital last christmas.) while there was definitely someone missing at our thanksgiving table this year...her spirit was ever present. she loved when the whole family got together so there isn't a doubt in my mind that she was smiling over all of us that night.
i thought a lot about g'ma on thanksgiving. not so much in a selfish i-wish-she-was-here sort of way. those thoughts, of course crossed my mind more than once, but the majority of my thoughts centered around being thankful. thankful to have had 32 wonderful years with her. thankful that she was able to meet three of my children and that ryan and lilly have wonderful memories of her that i hope stay with them forever. how thankful i am for all of my own memories of her.
this got me thinking about just how thankful i am for all of my family members who are still with us. how lucky i am to be surrounded by such wonderful people every day. this wasn't more apparent than on thanksgiving night. our house was filled with some of those people we love so much.
you really cannot ask for anything more.
these guys hold the top 4 spots on my thankful list.
since thanksgiving was late this year (only 3 days before bird's birthday) we decided to celebrate her while everyone was together.
not so sure about everyone staring at her and singing.
nice try jake. no way you were getting molly's cupcake.

the "kids" table. we use the word kids loosely considering the age limit is 2-26.
