potty party

12:28 PM

brace yourself. this post is all about teaching a very reluctant 2 year old how to use the bathroom. riveting, i know. however, since i consider this blog my virtual baby book then it needs to be documented.

pictures and all.

i'm so sorry teenage may for being such an embarrassing mom.

we are now 5 days in and things are going (shockingly) well.

i guess it really all started about a month ago. may made some huge progress by simply sitting on the potty. for months and months she refused because "i scared i gonna fall in!" so for her to even sit was a huge step in the right direction.

(sidenote...i do not mess with the kid potties. we start on the big one from the start. i am always worried they will get too used to going on the little one and then not use a real one when out in public. so we just don't even give them the option. plus the thought of cleaning those little ones makes me gag)

after sitting and sitting and sitting for a few weeks with no success, i woke up monday and decided today was the day. we had nothing to do all day so after sgm drop-off and exercise room we came home and headed to the bathroom.

where we sat...

and drank water...
and sat...
and watched a movie on the computer...
and sat some more...

this went on for a good 45 minutes. (thank you for taking a good morning nap, annie!!) then she went into full hysterics when things started to get desperate. full tears and "i hate unnerwear!!!" for another 10-15 until finally...."i doing it!!"

success!!!

she was so darn proud of herself.

since monday we have been in unnerwear (i love how she eliminates the "d" when she says this) all day with the exception of nap and bedtime. she's only had 2 accidents and they were more my fault than hers. i couldn't get to her quick enough.

she even went to school and stayed dry. i am hoping things stay this way and may can say goodbye to diapers for good.

next up....

the binky.
