volume three

12:53 PM

onward we go people...

day seven

also known as the fourth of july! there really is no better place to be on the 4th than the beach. we spent the majority of the day with our toes in the sand.

nothing gets all that sand off better than a bubble bath.

then it was time to put all the patriotic gear on that we own and have an all american bbq dinner.

however, not before teacher nene and teacher bossy had us do some 4th of july crafts.

look at these two little chicks modeling nene's latest 4th of july creations. so festive!

after dinner we played outside and did a little parade around the neighborhood with our patriotic wands.

we also caught a few geckos.

once the littles were in bed and the sun went down we headed to the beach to catch a firework show. make that two shows...wait, no, three! literally there were fireworks all around us. and the best part of the whole evening...no parking, no getting there 2 hours early, no whining kids asking "when are the fireworks going to staaaaaart?" like i said before, the 4th at the beach is the place to be!

day eight

on sunday we woke up to a little rain. it was kind of nice to lounge around the house after such a fun 4th. these two were in heaven once dan figured out how to stream the grateful dead concerts in chicago...we listened to the dead

all. morning. long.

the sun came out around noon so we headed straight to the pool.

i have to take a minute to document may. her swimming abilities improved 100% this trip. not only is she fully going under and jumping off the side..but she also decided to take her puddle jumpers off and swim on her own! she is getting pretty darn good, too. so proud of our little bird.

sunday evening we took a little stroll down to the crab trap for happy hour before watching the us women's team take on japan in the world cup finals.

it was the perfect afternoon to fly our kites again.

and dress alike.
(who am i kidding...any time is a good time to dress alike!)

we got home just in time for the game...but not before may did a few chores around the house for dottie.

these three were totally into the game...and what a game it was! i'm definitely making one of my girls become a big time soccer star after watching that game. hahaha kidding :)

day nine

sadly this was the day dan was heading back to the lou. we loved having him with us and it was so hard to let him leave...but someone's gotta make the big bucks so we can spend weeks in florida! we took the golf cart for some waffle house for a little family breakfast one last time.

then it was back to the beach. the water was so calm...of course he had to get the paddle board out there one last time. he was able to take the girls out for a little ride before he headed to the airport.

annie was not happy that she had to stay on the sand while all the other kids were out riding the waves!

so...i took her out there! so loooooved it. i swear she could have stayed out there all afternoon.

then it was colleen's turn to give the waves a try!

that evening we just stayed in and relaxed.
