off to the races

as always the weekend was full of laughs and surprisingly even a few wins. we spent all day friday and saturday at the track betting and although that may sound like we are die hard gamblers...trust me when i say my theory to betting horse races is all in the name of the horse. of course, i also love a good long shot. like the horse whose odds went off at 60-1 in the derby. call me crazy...but one of these days i'm gonna win a long shot and everyone will think i'm a genius!

anyway, back to the weekend...

once we arrived in hot springs, the gals quickly spruced and off we went to the track. incase you are new to the blog, stella, the fabulous lady to the left in the top pic is a very close friend of the track's owner...so anytime we are with stella we are vip. doesn't get any schwankier than that!

it never fails every year derby weekend falls on prom weekend in hot springs. this year dan decided to up the anty and had corsages and boutonnieres waiting for all of us at the airport. they were a hit! he is so sneaky.

no big wins for anyone on friday...but saturday was derby day and i was feeling lucky.

katie (or cate middleton as we called her all weekend) was rocking the fascinator on saturday.

the day started out great for me. i actually won the first two races...and won $150 on the 2nd. my biggest win to date! i was feeling pretty darn good...

however, that did not last. started out big and fizzled the rest of the day. i am happy to say that my hubby took over and ended up about $300 up on the trip! it's about time that boy had some good luck come his way!

it was a wonderful weekend. we missed our girls terribly but it was a lovely 32 hours for us to just be dan and katie rather than mommy and daddy. but boy were we happy to get home to our babies. of course ryan was still awake "waiting for us to get home" once we landed saturday night. i loved being able to put my big girl to bed after such a whirlwind weekend.
