long weekend fun

9:13 PM

what a weekend! there is nothing quite like a nice long holiday weekend to kick off summer.

my weekend started off with a bang. i kissed the girls goodnight on friday night, woke up at 5am saturday and set out with megan on a mini-road trip to visit two of the sweetest little babies you ever did see. yes, i am talking about those corbin twins! pictures just weren't doing it for us...we just had to meet them for ourselves!

i mean, can you even stand the cuteness?

these little peanuts are blowing everyone away with just how great they are doing. the nurse I met couldn't stop gushing about these two...and that wasn't even amy & john's favorite nurse. it was pretty obvious they were the favorites in their section of the nicu. did you really expect anything less?

big things have been happening to these little twinkies lately. I just got my daily update from their mommy. mr henry is weighing in at 4lbs 3oz while his big sis is 3lbs 6oz. they are making incredible strides in the weight gaining department! they also graduated this week...to the other side of the nicu! a very big deal. they are now in the less-intensive wing, which means they can spend lots more time outside their incubators and in their mommy & daddy's arms! right where they belong.

(he's such a pro already!)

they also get to spend more time together. amy says they are completely relaxed when snuggled up next to each other. i'm sure they have missed that! this week/weekend they will be getting bottles for the first time. another big step for preemies! then it's just a lot of sleeping & gaining weight until they get to come home!!

oh, and did I mention that all four of those lovely faces up there will be coming home to st. louis?!? i could not be more excited about this news. megan and I have been trying to talk amy into moving home for years...it's about time she listened to us. it is going to be amazing to have them all in town, all the time! I need to start planning their welcome home bash.

it was the perfect start to my weekend. i was so happy to meet the babies and spend some time with my friend!

back home we spent the rest of our weekend outside. we played on our playground

(an entire post in itself...coming soon!)

and enjoyed a beautiful memorial day by the pool.

this was may's very first time at the pool and she loved every second of it.

thanks goodness because we will be spending a lot of time there this summer! her sisters are little fishies.

all in all it was a fabulous holiday weekend. and it was all made possible by the brave men and women who fight for our freedom. to all those who are apart of our military, i salute you.
