oh christmas tree...

12:16 PM

hello! lumberjack hauck here with a little tale about a christmas tree.

most people might be surprised to hear that i actually have an outdoorsy side. ok, ok, i had an outdoorsy side. i used to be quite the happy little camper back in the day. granted now i would much rather be on a beach or in a nice heated house in the mountains...but back before we had kids and i became high maintenance, dan and i used to camp all the time!

our favorite camping partners were the boyles. many a weekend the four of us would drive for about an hour or so and set up camp somewhere in the middle of missouri. those were such fun times. floating and hiking and drinking beer. ahhh, memories.

while we haven't done that for awhile (we, as in dan and i...pretty sure the boyles still go)...every year after thanksgiving we get together to indulge our inner tree huggers.

this year was no exception...

we had our sights set on this one right away...but wanted to make sure we gave the others a good long look.

may was displaying her new 3 year old attitude all morning. such a delight to have that around again.
(insert rolling eye emoji)

lilly took over as photographer for a bit

once the boyle tree was found it was time for the annual family picture with it

the boyle's went small this year. i think it's chris' goal every year for them to go smaller and smaller...yet try and convince me to go bigger and bigger!

after much consideration we decided on the very first one we saw. so off we went to go find it again.

found it!

much to chris' dismay we opted for a smaller tree this year. we actually decided we are going to have 2 trees. (we'll get the other from the sgm tree lot...gotta support our school!) this beauty is going in our entry way. it will be the perfect display for all of the gorgeous needlepoint ornaments elaine has made for us over the years!

timber!

writing thank you notes to the men & women in the military as dad pays for the tree.

man oh man...those boyle boys are cute!

oh yeah...and annie was there too.

another year another tree farm trip. maybe this summer we'll revisit the good old days and take all the kids camping.

(or maybe i'll just send dan)
