livin' the life
6:58 PMcool weather, breath-taking views, two hilarious little girls...there is nothing better than spending the long holiday weekend in one of our favorite places in the country. it makes me smile to think that my girls are going to grow up with memories of their childhood vacations in this amazing place! i can already envision both of them flying down those slopes!
anyway, this weekend we had a fabulous time in the mountains. the girls loved spending as much time as they could outside. saturday morning we headed down to the village to cheer on dan. he had signed up to run a 5K while we were out there...very impressive...if you've ever been up in the mountains you know how hard it is to catch your breath walking up the stairs, let alone running up the side of a mountain! dan loves to push himself...he is such a good role model for our girls!
first we had to snap some pics of the two of them outside the house.
my baby looks so big in this pic!
we stopped to play a little bocci
and to check out the gondola...
and to smell the flowers...
and then we spotted daddy coming down the mountain and across the finish line! he made it look so easy!
after a quick shower for dan we picked up some sandwiches at the local deli and headed down to avon to our favorite park to play on the playground and take in the views.
another flash back...same spot, one year ago.
we packed a lot of fun into saturday. after our picnic dan took lil home to nap but we let ry stay up a little longer to take a ride on the chair lift. she was dying to do this from the minute she saw it friday night. she loved every minute of the ride and playing in the sandbox at the top of the mountain!
after naps we met our local friends, ryan & molly at one of our favorite mexican joints...the minturn saloon. then headed back down to the village for some gelato. what a day!
we woke up sunday and had a lazy morning. i snuck out and took a pilates class while the girls were lazily eating their breakfast and watching cartoons. we decided to take a trip over to vail to take in their sunday farmer's market. it was packed with people and dogs. lilly was in heaven!
after naps we went back down to the village to shake our booties. this weekend was beaver creek's oktoberfest so the village was packed with people and entertainment. the girls loved dancing to the U2 tribute band!
some random stopped mary and asked her to dance. said he was doing a scavenger hunt with his family and he had to dance with a random girl. nice pick-up line! i think he was a little shocked when he found out she was only 17!
this girls loves to dance!
oh yeah, did i mention that dan bought ryan her 1st pair of skis? he found a shop in vail that was going out of buisiness and got these little puppies for $20! cannot wait to see her on the slopes this winter!!
on the way home...the pilot said the flight might be a little bumpy due to high winds in stl so ry made sure to hold on tight to daddy.
we had such a fabulous weekend in bc. we were sad to leave but excited to get home to get to celebrate brendy's birthday!! pictures from his parties to come...
