the little mermaid show
2:21 PMahhhh the little mermaid show. ryan has been talking about "the little mermaid show" since we were in forest park on mother's day and she saw the banner hanging in front of the muny. even the beach didn't hold a candle to "the little mermaid show." before we left for florida i would ask "who's excited to go to the beach?" of course lilly would say "me is!"...ryan, on the other hand, would answer "and then the little mermaid show!!" needless to say she was beyond herself with excitement on sunday night. it proved to be a ridiculously hot evening. we thought for sure when the sun went down (the show was at 8:15) that it would at least cool down a few degrees. not so much...barely even a breeze...but ryan didn't seem to mind. she couldn't take her eyes off the stage. stayed awake the entire show and even the ride home. she can't stop talking about it. i loved sharing such a fun experience with her...even if i was drenched in sweat!

this is when prince eric's ship crashed in the "big storm." this proved to be her favorite part...when ariel saved prince eric!
intermission. did i mention our seats? they were unreal. dan's grandpa hauck had season tickets for a long, long time. when he passed on dan's aunt carolyn took them over. she was nice enough to let us have 4 tickets for this show. i like to think jack was smiling down on us that night watching his great granddaughter enjoy her very first muny show!
it was an unforgettable experience. now that she's tackled the muny, dan's ready to take her to broadway!

i would like to give a very special birthday shout-out to my auntie veneitia! she turned another year older this past saturday...but somehow manages to look younger with every passing year. i hope i got some of those genes. happy birthday auntie v!!
