summer happenings
8:19 AMbesides all of dan's latest ailments...we have been getting back into the groove of everyday life around here. we've been barbequeing, swimming and hitting up the park...perferrably the ones with sprinklers.
along with our everyday happenings we also took a little time to celebrate this great country we live in. we spent the actual 4th in the hospital but the night before we hit up the peterson's annual 4th of july party. i had to steal pictures from megan because i left my camera at home...so very unlike me these days...i apologize if you're already seen them.
as always chris & meg's house was all decked out for the festivities. this year meg concocted her own version of sonic's cherry limeade with a twist...of vodka. i, of course, indulged in a virgin...but i heard the adult versions were very tastey.
and who doesn't love a huge pretzal in the shape of usa?!?
meg had big plans of sprinklers and bounce houses for all the kiddos...but unfortunately mother nature had a different idea. the clouds rolled in right as the party was starting and the rain stuck around until after we headed home. no worries though...the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves inside!
jack's first 4th of july
looking at some passing firetrucks..
the rain did slow down a bit so the girls decided it was time to put their suits on and venture outside. this lasted for about 10 minutes...the suits, however, stayed on for the remainder of the night!
it was another successful 4th at the peterson's. of course things started to get really fun after all the little ones left. one of these years i am going to not be pregnant and stay late!

we had a "baby book" moment this past week. ryan had her first dentist appointment! i'm not quite sure how kids can be afraid of something they have no idea about...but days leading up to her appointment ryan was nervous. fear of the unknown, i guess? after talking up the dentist more than i ever thought i could, she was feeling much better about going. i took her to my dentist who i have gone to for as long as i can remember. i have never had a fear of the dentist and i believe it's because of him. he's fabulous....and he didn't disappoint with ryan. she did wonderful. got a little nervous when he brought out the spin brush to brush her teeth, but was quickly distracted when he showered her with stickers, silly bands and a new belle toothbrush. i'm so proud of my big girl!

and new news on the homefront. we have grass!!! this may not seem like such a big deal to most people...but when you have been living with mud for the last 2 years...grass is an amazing thing. i swear it makes the house look completely different. it does wonders for my mood as well to see green out the front door rather than brown!
we are motoring through this summer as fast as ever. i wish it would slow down just a litle bit. however, we have more fun things ahead...
