beach vacation...day one

we are officially knee deep in vacation down here. man, what a feeling!

on sunday we arrived to a florida that i did not recognize. our usually bright and sunny destin was dark and dreary. tropical storm debby was spinning in the gulf wreaking havoc on the sunshine state. the 5 day forecast for the week showed thunderstorms every day. every. single. day. i have to admit i was silently in panic mode...ok, maybe not so silently. but can you blame me? i mean honestly, what on earth would we possibly do with 6 kids, stuck inside one house for an entire week? by sunday afternoon alone, board games were played, pictures were drawn and kids were already restless. by the time dan, lil, may and i rolled into town my dad, pat and the kids were swimming in the pool. in the rain. can you say desperate?!?

(just to catch you up. dan and i had to go to a wedding in chicago saturday evening. we flew from chicago to st. louis at 10:30am, picked up lil and may and headed back out to lambert at 2:00 in route to panama city. ryan had the luxury of riding down to destin with my mom, dad and ali and arrived saturday night. she had an absolute blast eating snacks and watching movies during the drive)

we made the best of it sunday night. had dinner, popsicles and said our bedtime prayers that debby cools her jets and doesn't ruin our entire trip!
