day two

on monday we awoke to mostly cloudy skies...but no rain. as we were feeding the kids breakfast the first glint of sun shone through the clouds and i kid you not we all had our swim suits on and were out on the beach within minutes. we figured if we could even get just an hour of outdoor time it would be a major improvement from sunday.

we got that and then some...

these pictures were taken before the lifeguard called everyone on the beach over to explain that even though the weather was slightly improving....we still needed to exercise extreme caution. debby was creating some pretty wicked rip tides that could cause some real danger if not taken seriously. we were told to basically stay out of the water all together. especially kids or...in the words of the lifeguard..."if you came here with 8 you could go home with 7."

after that we made sure the kids played out of the water for the remainder of the morning.

we came with six and we are leaving with six, dog-gone-it.

after her morning nap, may came down to see what the fuss was all about.

she was fascinated by the sand. put it in her mouth once and learned her lesson.

after a little lunch we headed to the pool to test out the kids new puddle jumpers. man are those things the greatest invention ever!? all four big kids swimming around the pool all on their own.

can't beat that.
