a tale of two kids
3:01 PM
the second week of summer proved to be much less stressful than week one. partly because may was finally getting over strep and the bladder infection that hit her hard for 5 whole days...but mainly because i was down two kids. amazing how carefree you can feel when you have two less kids to take care of every day.
dan actually texted me at one point during the week and said "isn't it crazy how hard we thought two kids were." i laughed...and agreed...but then remembered back to that time when we just had two and sighed. it really was hard when we only had two. we barely had the hang of parenting one kid when lilly came along...lord knows we had no idea what to do with two! ryan was still just a baby herself. i swear those first couple months of lilly's life are a little hazy in my mind. however, life goes on. you live and learn and look back and think man, that was hard...but we survived!
mom high-five!
back to the week at hand. after dropping dottie and the girls off at the airport on monday i asked may what she wanted to do. what fun adventure should we go on with just you and annie?!? what did she suggest???
target.
may, my friend, you are about as wild as they come. so off we went to target where she got to pick out some new "guys." our week was off to a roaring start.
on tuesday we kicked things up a bit with a visit to the lodge with a couple of the peterson boys.

that evening we headed over to have dinner with pop. annie was scoring some major great-gpa brownie points with all the kisses she threw to him.
wednesday was hot. so very hot. we opted for a picnic at tilles park so we could cool off with the splash pad.

i can't get over how old may looks in this picture. being the big girl of the house for one week has aged her tremendously in my mind.
thursday we stalked patrick and ryan again with a trip to the magic house.
(meg was down two kids as well with e & j being at swim camp for the week.)

friday wasn't as hot so we hit the clayton path for a nice long walk. i walked...they slept. smart girls.
for our last night with two kids we hit up carl's for burgers and root beers...

tro mo for sno cones...

and our backyard for some pre-bedtime fun.
(just look at those baby curls popping up!)

meanwhile down in florida....
the big girls had an absolute blast!!! they spent the week bonding with their second cousins william and kaylie.
they beached...
they swam...
they crashed beach weddings...
they had so much fun i am actually surprised they came back!
lucky for them we are headed back down in a few weeks!
we are so very happy to have our big girls back home.
look out week #3...we're coming for ya!
