summa summa summertime

8:30 PM

we are over one full week into summer and i am already daydreaming about 2 weeks ago when two of my kids were in school all day and life was easy.

i kid. i kid.

kind of.

i am not going to lie to you and tell you that the first week of summer was nothing but sunshine and rainbows. in reality...it was partly cloudy, a little bit chilly and 100% crabby!

however, we powered through and even managed to have some fun. more on that later.

for now, let's go back to that glorious time when we were still anticipating summer and all it's bbq/pool/party glory.

we kicked off memorial day weekend with a little evening up at bellerive. we took a cruise on the golf cart to put some tees by great-grandpa jack's tree. if you happen to play the course...look for ryan's heart on hole #13.

on saturday megan texted me at 3pm asking if we wanted to come over for a little impromptu bbq at their new house. ummm, of course we did. i love a good last minute party. their new house is amazing. i foresee a lot of summer evenings spent over there!

no surprise that the girls put on a little show for us. ryan is so lucky the younger ones follow her every step...for now. i'm sure that won't last too much longer. soak it in ryan.

i had to add this video because of patrick's dancing and johnny's cameo is just too good...

sunday was our first pool day and we loved every second of it. from the sun to the sno cones.

although it felt like summer all weekend long...we still had an entire week of school to get through. it's amazing to me how much these two have grown this year. they have really been star students all year and we are oh so proud of them!

they had so much fun stuff planned that last week of school. of course it flew by and soon it was time for lilly's kindergarten performance.

so so proud of our little tiger.

the girls very first swim meet topped off that wonderful day.

lilly was a little intimidated by the whole thing...i don't really blame her. she had never seen a swim meet before and girlfriend needs time to warm up to new situations. she stayed with me for the first meet and cheered her sister on. however, once she realized ribbons were involved she was determined to get one. she rocked swim meet #2.

ryan, on the other hand, loved every second of her first meet! she's been working hard on her strokes all spring and it's paying off.

the dj after the meet was just icing on the cake.

after staying up until almost 10pm on thursday...ryan had 4 more hours of school to get through on friday. however, once she was done it was party time! six flags children's hospital night is easily one of my favorites. it's the official kick-off to summer and we love it so much. we've had some bad weather the last couple years and rain was threatening once again...however, we dodged it for a few hours. long enough to get in as many rides as we could!

may wasn't a huge fan of the rides. maybe next year!

the big girls really up'ed their roller coaster game this year. they gave the runaway mine train a try and absolutely loved it! so much so they rode it twice in a row. i can't wait until we go back...next children's hospital night :)

although the first week was rough...i am thoroughly enjoying having my girls home for the summer. we have loads of fun planned for the next two months!
