a great day for the irish!
3:34 PMthe celebration continued this week...with a st. pat's brunch held at our house on wednesday morning. it was a wonderful morning to celebrate the irish. we had irish music playing, soda bread and a ton of delicous brunch food.
the littlest leprechaun of the family...red hair and all!
and then, we topped it all off this morning with the ancient order of the hibernians, dogtown parade! this year proved to be a bit more challenging than past years. this year all of the side roads in dogtown were blocked to non-residents. i can understand the reasoning behind this. i am sure this parade is a total pain in the butt for the residents of dogtown...however, for us it made for a long walk. nothing to complain about though. whoever controls the weather up there was smiling down on us today. it was a perfectly sunny 75 degree day. the kind of day you dream about when you are buried under 6 inches of snow. we were ready for it. the only downfall to the new parking restrictions was that we weren't able to go by the scott's annual st. pat's party before or after the parade. i am still bummed about this. that has been a tradition of ours for awhile now. there was just no way of hauling a cooler and a wagon down tamm. instead, we walked until we found the first open spot along wth parade route and parked it.
perfect.
we were so happy that dottie and yaya were able to join us...
what a difference a year makes! 2010...cranky, tired 2 year old.
2011..happy, smiley 3 year old! (at least dan looks the same. nice hat!)
lilly got to join in on the fun this year...her first dogtown parade was a huge success. she absolutely loved all the floats, music and especially the candy. however, she could give or take the beads (that's my girl...can't stand those things laying around the house!)
look what lilly found!
who had a good time at the parade??
her new favorite way to travel...
dan and i figured out this was our 11th st. patty's day together...they get better and better every year. can't wait for 2012 :)
ps...a very special birthday shout out to a little leprechaun born today. happy birthday connor boyle! the hauck girls cannot wait to meet you!!!!
