last hurrah
3:02 PMok, i think i have finally recovered from the "day from hell" that we experienced last thursday. a beyond awful flight home from one of our favorite places. let's first look back at all the fun we had before that horrendous day...
even though i was a week (or two, ok maybe 3) past the time when pregnant gals are supposed to travel, i decided to take a risk and head to the beach for one last hurrah with my girls. i mean, come on, this is my 3rd time around. i think i know by now that these babies do not come early. anyway, back to the beach. we headed down on sunday with dottie & ya ya for a week of fun, sun and relaxation...especially for me ;) our first day at the beach was gorgeous. sunny and warm with a beautiful breeze. the only problem was that jellyfish had invaded the shoreline, so there was no getting in the water for us. not to worry...the sand is what the girls came for anyway!
not your average jellyfish, we're talking jumbo jellyfish. man are those things nasty looking
after some after naps we headed out for dinner at one of our favorite spots. the outdoor mall with the choo-choo train. obviously, i love the mall part while the girls love the choo-choo.
tuesday proved to be a much better beach day. the jellyfish magically disappeared overnight and we spent the entire morning splashing in the water, searching for shells and chasing seagulls.
while out running one of her bazillion errands for the house, dottie found out there was randomly a circus in town for two days while we were there. so she of course bought tickets for the tuesday afternoon show. the girls loved it...minus the clowns. they talked about how much they disliked the clowns for the rest of the trip. can't really say i blame them on that one. i find them rather creepy too.
you may notice ya-ya isn't in any of these pictures. apparently she isn't a fan of clowns either!
of course dottie spoiled the girls rotten and bought them anything they wanted. including a ride on the elephant...
and big ass balloons. bet you can't guess which one lil wanted...
wednesday proved to be a rainy day at the beach. not totally a loss though because i had an afternoon all to myself to look forward to. i spent my alone time at the outlet mall and then had a beyond fabulous prenatal massage and facial. heavenly. that night the adventures continued when we headed to dinner at the "alligator place" also known as fudpuckers. this time lilly decided to join in on the fun...
we had such a fabulous trip! i actually relaxed and the girls loved being at the beach with dottie & ya ya.
the trip home, however was awful. we left the beach house at 8:30am and got to stl at 10pm. talk about a loooong day. here's the jist...we had to change planes in houston, out of the way i know. as soon as we board the plane and head out to the runway we stop. we sit for about 1/2 hour with the pilot telling us there seems to be some weather moving in but we should take off shortly. an hour passes and we head back to the gate to refuel. back out to the runway we go...to sit...again. another hour passes, then another. finally the pilot assures us they have sent a pathfinder (tiny jet) out to find a path for us to get out. greeeaaat (sarcasm) we take off after 3 hours on the plane...with 2 little kids...8 months pregnant...and is it the bumpiest flight of my life. by the time we land in stl i honestly could not talk. i was beyond exhausted and just wanted to curl up in my bed and cry.
however, we made it. safe and sound. and although that day was miserable...the trip was well worth it. can't wait to take #3 to the beach next spring!!!!
