first grade.

i can hardly believe i just typed that.

it feels like just yesterday i was up in the middle of the night writing to you about your first day of kindergarten and here we are, a whole year older.

i think you realized at visit day today that first grade is going to be pretty different from kindergarten. you've hit the big time now...but there isn't a doubt in my mind that you're gonna rock it.

your enthusiasm for school hasn't wavered one bit. i know in a few hours you'll spring out of bed ready to tackle another year.

this year is going to be even more exciting for you knowing that your sister is just down the hall.

you are so very excited for lilly it makes my heart burst. you were so proud to be able to show her all around school this morning. you showed her everything from the drinking fountains to the music room...you were beaming with pride all morning.

i love that you know just how important it's going to be for lilly to have you around at school. you know she's a little nervous and that seeing you at lunch and recess is going to make her day.

i know you will look out for her and that calms any nerves i might have for lil.

this year is going to be an adjustment for both of us. first grade is serious stuff but i know once we get in the routine of things you will excel just like last year.

we are so very proud of you ry. your love of learning is so special. i hope it grows even more throughout the year.
