princess ryan
3:24 PMlast sunday we had just our immediate family and grandparent's over for ryan's birthday dinner. we were supposed to be arriving back from chicago that afternoon so we were keeping it very simple and casual. had i known we would all get sick and have to stay home i would've thrown her a party. (the guilt of missing the trip still hasn't subsided)
while it was a very hectic day (dan slipped on some ice while getting his car washed and injured his shoulder even more. we were at the emergency room for most of the afternoon. the urgent care dr he went to immediately following the fall, sent him directly to the er because she said he had dislocated it. turns out between the urgent care and the er his shoulder had gone back into place...but now his ac joint tear is a grade 5 rather than a grade 3. poor dan cannot catch a break with this shoulder business) that didn't stop us from showering out girl with love and gifts.
but before we dove into those presents we indulged in some stuffed artichokes. a favorite of ryan's. (this really isn't that unsual of a request...we are all artichoke obsessed in my family)
now, back to those presents...
it was a very princess birthday this year! ryan was beyond excited about her box of princess dress-ups from her uncle jake and sara. (fabulous gift guys!!)
and the dreses went perfect with the dress up heels she got from nene and dow!
lilly was so so so very happy to see 3 different pairs of princess shoes to cruise around the house in.
and to continue with the princess theme...ryan's very first bike! she has been riding it around the house and cannot wait for the worker guys to pour our driveway. that back turn around is going to the perfect spot for bike riding!!
and because she didn't want lil to feel left out...dottie brought lilly her own little bike.
without a doubt my favorite birthday gift of ryan's was the gorgeous quilt nana made for her new big girl bed. it is pink and green and covered with ice cream cones and sweet treats. what kid wouldn't want to fall asleep in that bed??? for those of you who don't know the family too well my nana is beyond amazing with a sewing machine. she has made numerous dresses for my sisters, cousins and i and now for our kids. i only wish i got an ounce of her talent. i am so thankful for this quilt...it is something ryan will have and cherish forever. if it was up to me it wouldn't go on her bed at all but be framed and hung on her wall for all to admire...but as soon as we headed up to bed sunday night ryan insisted it go directly on her bed. and who am i to argue with the birthday girl? thank you again nana...it really is a work of art!
after gifts and a delicious dinner of dow's famous homemade pizzas, it was time for cake. we, of course, had a dottie's ice cream cake with pink icing...per the birthday girl and it was fabulous.
snow white can't help but smile when everyone is singing in her honor
after dinner we played a little more with her new gifts. lilly did about 45 laps around the stairs in the heels.
while ryan modeled all the latest princess fashions
and jack hung out in his sweet shamrock hat
all in all it was a fabulous evening. molly says "goodbye everybody!"
