8:55 PMfebruary 15, 2008. easily the best day of my life. (along with 12.9.06 and 6.18.09 of course.) a day that changed every aspect of my life. a day that will always be mary ryan's day.
2.15.11 was another fabulous day. we didn't do anything exceptional but celebrating this little girl all day is exceptional in itself if you ask me. we made a trip to target, met the sweeney's at the park, napped, hit up the pet store for the newest addition to our family (a goldfish that we weren't able to bring home last night. we have to prepare the tank before we take home the fish...who knew?) and finally hit up steak n' shake for the "teeny tiny burgers" she requested for her birthday dinner. all in all a great day!
today we made a visit to dr sara for ry's 3 year check up. i must say she is much more excited about going to the doctor when it's for her sister. her stats were pretty standard for the hauck girls. 10th percentile for both height and weight. (26 lbs and 2ft 11in) after her hearing test, 2 shots, a cookie and a snow white sticker ry was more than happy to get the heck out of there.
it's funny how at every stage of this precious little girl's life i have said to dan "6 months is my favorite age" "no, 12 months is my favorite" "wait, 18 months is my favorite" "i think 2 is my favorite" i can honestly say...3...not really my favorite so far. don't get me wrong, ryan is as sweet as pie about 90% of the time...but in the last week or so that 10% has really shown through. this girl is a diva, there is absolutely no question about that. and lord help whoever tries to dim her star. she can whip out those big old crocdile tears in a second flat and hit you with an attitude before you even see it coming.
even though she has her "moments" for the majority of the time ry is a pretty hilarious little girl. she is very and i stress very into anything princess at the moment. if it has any of her "best girls" on it she automatically loves it. from band aids to pjs to dishes...it's all princesses, all the time. this birthday was no exception. (as you will see in her birthday dinner post coming soon) she also takes after her auntie ali and her love of musicals. right now we are currently obsessed with the wizard of oz and meet me in st. louis. we have watched them on repeat for the last few weeks. it has already been decided that she will be dorothy for halloween...while auntie al has high hopes of her and ry recreating the "cake walk" scene for us at christmas. ryan loves to sing and will put on a performance at the drop of a hat. whether anyone is listening or not.
ryan is also very into her ballet class. she (and i) look forward to thursday afternoon every week. she practices her plies and shirley temples all around the house. and we read fancy nancy books to brush up on all the fancy french ballet terms ms theresa uses.
a day doesn't go by when someone doesn't stop me while we're out and about and comment on how cute she is...or how beautiful those curls are and i couldn't agree more.
ryan, words cannot describe the absolute joy you have brought to your daddy and i. you are growing up way too fast. it seems like only yesterday i was feeling your teeny tiny feet kick me from inside and now you are walking and talking. i wish i could freeze time and soak in all of your 3 year old self before you are another year older. i will never stop reminding you of just how much your daddy and i love you.

Love the Boots & Undies. Yes, Little Mermaid IS coming to the Muny... last year was Beauty and the Beast and my mom and I were like crying at all the Belles in the audience :)
